The Big Day

Tomorrow my wife and daughter come home from their trip to Brasil. They were visiting my wife's family. I've been single(so to speak) for a month now and I've kind of gotten used to it! Don't get me wrong, I miss them; however, I've grown accustomed to life alone again. Transitioning back to married life is going to take some getting used to. I enjoyed being able to come and go as I pleased and do what I wanted to do. I missed having my wife there though(for obvious reasons). I also missed our daughter, she is the cutest baby on the planet and I miss playing with her. I pick them up at RDU airport tomorrow morning about 10:00hs, I've taken the whole day off to spend with them.

Excite Truck?

Ok, so last night my sister and I were a little bored and decided to play some Excite Truck. I have already played the game myself quite a bit. It took Brenna awhile to get used to the controls, but she seemed to have fun. I actually like the game myself. I do have a quarrel with the versus mode. The split screen was hard to see where the truck was going, we found it too easy to get lost. Other than that I enjoyed the game and it has peaked my interest in more racing games, which is a feat since I generally dislike ANY racing game. The last racing game I liked was Excite Bike, that's a great one from years ago!

Ok, so I've been really busy at work these past couple of days and my nights are spent engrossed in Legend of Zelda madness! My wife and daughter are still in Brasil and that leaves me with a lot of time alone. I'm doing much better after my surgury. I seem to be healing quickly.
I would like to give my impressions on the Nintendo Wii. I have to say that I love it! The big difference for me is the control interface, it is more natural than an analog controller. The games are fun; however, other than Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess there are no killer applications to make the console. That kind of dissapoints me. There are some great games like DBZ: Tenachi 2 and Marvel Alliance, but those games are multi-platforms and do not really define the Wii. 2007 shows some real promise though, tough for me because I have SO many games to still finish on the Gamecube.
I haven't tried the online aspects of the Wii yet; I don't have Windows XP and that is hampering things. I'm interested to see the channels and to try some of the Virtual Console games that I played as a child when Nintendo first came on the scene in the eighties. The Mii channel has proven to be more fun than I anticipated. My sister and I have spent longer than I care to recount making Miis. It's hilarious to make a Mii to look like someone and then see that Mii show up in Wii Sports. I hope to see future inclusionn of Miis in Wii games. I've heard rumors about a Mii-centric Sims, I don't like Sims and never have, and I just might get interested in a Mii Sim; sad yes I know.
I got Excite Truck and Marvel Alliance with my Wii and love both games. They are in a bit of neglect due to my overwhelming indulgence in Twilight Princess. I've waited two
years for Twilight Princess and fought heartache when it wasn't released earlier this year. The wait has been worth it and I must say that I enjoy it more on the Wii. Going back to Legend of Zelda on a analog interface just feels wrong somehow. On the other hand, playing games on my Gamecube doesn't feel that way. Some genres just fit better on the Wii and I have a sneeky feeling that after Metroid Prime 3: Corruption hits next year, I'll feel the same about First Person Shooters too (not that MP3 is really a FPS, more like an aventure in FP).
Playing was beliving and Nintendo SO far has kept its promise with the Wii. I look forward to what more there is to come from Nintendo and the Wii. When I finish Twilight Princess, I'll give my full impressions of the game.
